M-183 Garden Township Culvert Replacement

Location: Delta County, MI

Highway M-183 in Garden Township had a culvert replacement project in which a cofferdam using steel sheet piling was required. The traffic was maintained by executing the project in two stages. This required shoring for the maintenance of traffic lane, as well as the excavation in both stages.
​
The existing grade elevation to the bottom of excavation reached 28 feet in depth at its greatest point.

U.P. Sheds & U.P. Contracting Shop Building
Fall 2020
Client: U.P. Sheds/U.P. Contracting
Location: Houghton County, MI

A 4,800 square foot, tall-wall, wood-framed structure was designed. The foundation was a shallow, frost-protected monolithic, reinforced concrete slab with radiant heat.
​
Large garage doors were a must to aid in the efficiency of the day-to-day tasks. A comfortable 430 square foot office was built to make this shop a fully-functional point of operation.

Coles Creek Modular Block Retaining Wall
Summer 2020
Client: Portage Lake Construction
Location: Houghton County, MI

Due to damage from a severe thunderstorm, Coles Creek road underwent a massive repair project. A portion of the project involved installing a modular block retaining wall for the roadway support.
​
Jurmu Engineering designed the wall with a resistance to future, severe storm events in mind. The retaining wall also incorporates safety guardrail systems at various points throughout its entirety.


Greenland Pole Building

Client: U.P. Sheds/U.P. Contracting
Location: Greenland, MI

300'x800' Pole Building with 20' sidewalls and interior slab.
​
Utilizing engineered wood products, this building was designed to hold up tremendous snow loads in addition to wind loads.
